The Importance of Unity in Prayer

Never underestimate the exponential power of unity in prayer. It helps guide you to the Lord’s will in your prayers, it encourages perseverance in prayer, and it multiplies the power of your prayers.

Moses spoke on more than one occasion of the exponential power of partnership. He mentioned that “Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you” (Leviticus 26:8) and “one man can chase a thousand but two can put ten thousand to flight.” (Deut. 32:30).

Regarding these verses, Charles Spurgeon said, “There is accumulated power in united intercession; two do not only double the force but multiply it tenfold!” He then added, “God grant to each of us a praying partner.”1

Jesus Promised Increased Answers and Blessings from United Prayer

Matthew 18:19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

“Two of you agree.” Agreement in prayer refers to a deep sense that this request is indeed the will of God and that God is stirring us to pray about it now because He desires to answer it soon.

“It will be done for them.” Jesus made a bold promise. If we are confident that our request aligns with God’s Word and expresses His will; if we are both have sensed the confirmation of the Spirit and the awareness that the timing is right, we can count on God answering our united, agreed upon requests. Instead of begging Him to act, we can thank Him for answering.

@I regularly pray for people to be healed, but do not always see them receive the physical healing I ask for. But several months ago, in our church a young couple came with their new born baby daughter. The little girl was suffering with seizures and abnormalities in her brain.

We anointed the baby with oil and had about a dozen people gather around them praying. We felt freedom from the Lord to agree in united prayer for the immediate and total healing of the baby girl. Then we thanked God for answering.

That week the mom texted us to tell us the little girl was doing great and the doctor said there was no sign of any brain abnormalities!! She has been very healthy ever since.

There are several ways to apply the principle of united prayer.

· Pray with others about the same things in different places at different times.

· Pray with others for the same things at the same time in different places.

· Pray with others about he same things in the same place at the same time.

Start today looking for opportunities to capitalize on the exponential power of united prayer.
